After a recently escalating arms race, and the US & South Korea’s recent reaffirmation of their alliance in the face of North Korea’s missile program, the North and South have AGREED to AGREE that IN PRINCIPLE, the Korean War has formally ended. That being said, they haven’t sat down to hammer out the details. It’s unlikely that North Korea will agree to any kind of agreement unless America agrees to agree to withdraw its military presence from the region. Agreeably. And the US probably won’t agree to agree to a reduced presence in the area unless North Korea agrees to agree to cancel it’s ballistic missile program, which it’s probably not gonna do. And the US also kinda has a vested interest in remaining in the area, since it lets them keep a foothold (30k troops) right on China’s front-door, and project it’s military presence into Asia in general.
